CUTLER, Tulare County — October 28, 2026. County-maintained roads near Cutler–Orosi were included in Tulare County’s 2026–27 Chip Seal Program, an investment of more than $2 million to protect roughly 70 miles of rural roads across the county. The Resource Management Agency’s August 31 announcement says crews began work August 17 and expected to continue through September 9, subject to weather and field conditions.
What does chip sealing accomplish?
Workers apply asphalt emulsion and compacted aggregate rock to existing pavement to seal small cracks, reduce water intrusion and preserve surface traction. This is preventive maintenance, not the same as rebuilding a road from the base. Loose aggregate and traffic-control devices may be present around active work zones; motorists should follow posted directions rather than assume the original September schedule is a current closure notice.
Is the $2 million for Cutler alone?
No. The county’s budget and mileage describe a multi-community program across its five supervisorial districts, including Earlimart, Richgrove, Terra Bella, Tipton, Woodville, Porterville-area roads, Ivanhoe, Cutler–Orosi, Dinuba-area roads and Goshen. This program covers eligible county-maintained roads in unincorporated areas rather than every road within the limits of incorporated cities.
A separate accessibility improvement
Earlier in 2026, the county also identified ADA curb-ramp installation in Cutler, Traver, Tipton and Strathmore as an additional accessibility effort, with a projected March start. The publicly described projects involve different work scopes: curb ramps address pedestrian access, while chip sealing preserves driving surfaces. Neither announcement on its own verifies final inspection, construction completion or the condition of every road as of October 28.
How to verify your street
